
Appointed in December 2019, Alderman Junia Regrello is serving his second three-year term as Mayor of San Fernando. Since taking office, His Worship Mayor Regrello has implemented an ideology of grass roots into reaction which has dramatically reduced traffic congestion in the City Center through extensive hands on consultation; he was pivotal in tackling the massive flooding in parts of San Fernando after tropical storm Brett; he has championed the cause of the restoration of the City’s historic landmarks; hosted the first ever temporary location of the US Embassy in San Fernando; and is one of the driving forces behind the commencement of the long awaited San Fernando Waterfront redevelopment project.
As the head of the energy capital of Trinidad and Tobago and the most diverse city in the nation, His Worship Mayor Regrello has brought a performance-driven, hands on approach to the job, focused on creating more opportunities for the Citizens of San Fernando, diversifying the City’s economy towards a self sustain future based through the development of Art and Culture and the Service Industry and the delivery of city services to ensure a better future for all San Fernandians.
One of the mayor’s signature initiatives has been the reduction of traffic congestion in San Fernando, which aimed to improve the quality of life for residents, commuters and business owners. The mayor’s other priorities include a collaborative drive with the Water and Sewage Authority to repair the potholes on city streets, focusing on improving city services to all citizens, and the upgrade of infrastructure throughout the City.
Mayor Regrello’s civic leadership has been nationally recognized through his past service as the Member of Parliament for San Fernando West and minster in the ministry of Arts and Culture and as the former Deputy Mayor of San Fernando.
Mayor Regrello is a life-long citizen of San Fernando. He is well know as the Skipper of San Fernando’s Cal Skiffle, where he has garnered for himself a reputation as a dedicated musician and purveyor of Arts and Culture along with a life life long history steeped in Art, music and culture.
