
Michael V.E. Johnson, is Councillor for the Electoral District of Marabella West, and the
youngest sitting member on the San Fernando City Council. He represents approximately
5,350 citizens in the city, which accounts for just over 10% of the city’s population.
A leader in his community, Mr. Johnson believes that there is no higher calling than the calling to serve.Mr. Johnson’s career in the not-for-profit, private and public sectors, spans over 8 years as anadministrator and management professional.
Michael has solid public sector expertise which originated at the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services, where he worked at the national level in Poverty Reduction and Eradication. There he worked in social policy implementation through grant administration, micro-enterprise lending and micro-project financing.
Most recently, Michael was responsible for the administration of a multi-million
dollar programme, through a public-private partnership, with the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the Project Management Institute and the Management and Strategy Institute, all in the United States of America.
He has served on the boards of numerous private sector enterprises and has worked in the consultancy field over the last 4 years. In 2020, Mr. Johnson was awarded Chartered Manager status, by the Chartered Management Institute in the United Kingdom, becoming one of the few management professionals within Trinidad and Tobago, and the wider Caribbean region to hold this prestigious accreditation.
He is an internationally certified Change Management Specialist and a Six Sigma Lean Black Belt Professional. Michael’s undergraduate training is in Business Administration/
Management and he is the holder of a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.
At present he is finishing his final project for his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Michael received both his primary and secondary education within the great city of San Fernando, graduating from St. Paul’s Anglican Primary School and Presentation College.
